Name:Meg Llewellyn
E-mail:gwraig.annwn@gmail.com
Bio:Character Name: Margaret Rose Llewellyn (Her family calls her Maggie, but at school she goes by Meg)
Age/Birthdate: July 22, 2006 (16)
House/Year: Ravenclaw, 6th
Bloodline: Muggleborn

Physical Description: She is short, about 5’2”, and has an athletic build from Quidditch, though with a few extra pounds here and there, primarily due to the vast abundance of sweets at Hogwarts. She has a slim, quite pretty face, with messy, wavy brown hair and dark brown eyes that are almost black. When not in school uniform or Quidditch robes, she wears one of a variety of stylish, flattering dresses that she has made herself, or pretty tops with jeans when she’s feeling relatively frumpy.
PB: Leighton Meester

Personality: Meg is shy when first meeting people, but kind and accepting of differences. Unfortunately, most people probably think she is stuck-up or annoying when they first meet her, as she tends to deal with situations that make her uncomfortable by using sarcasm and slightly mean jokes—and situations in which she doesn’t know the majority of people do make her uncomfortable. She tries to seem confident when she is not, and it just comes out as being either silent or abrasive. She gets much more chatty and sincere with people she does know, though. She is loyal to her friends and expects that same loyalty in return—in fact, she can get a bit irrationally jealous when friends get closer to others or find significant others, fearing that she will be abandoned or ignored.

She enjoys being helpful and will take as much time as necessary to explain concepts from class, though she refuses to help anyone cheat. She is also helpful with clothing: she has a keen fashion sense and both enjoys and is good at sewing, both of which she learned from her mother. Therefore, she’s usually the one her friends go to for fashion advice, as well as the one they go to for lost buttons or tears in their robes. Her other hobbies are Quidditch and, when she has access to an oven, baking.

She is curious about the world, and enjoys learning in any way she can--books, observation, or plain nosiness. In Muggle school she was teased for always wanting to sit in front and asking questions (though supposedly everyone at her school was smart), though it's much more accepted among her fellow Ravenclaws. She gets good grades, but is less likely to offer answers to questions or be a teachers' pet than to ask probing questions, read more than is assigned, and explore esoteric aspects of her subjects. She also loves to discuss assignments with other students and see their perspectives. On the non-academic side of things, she is fascinated by how people work--wizards in particular. She listens much more than she talks (making her an excellent conversation partner), makes a habit of eavesdropping in the library, and has been caught once or twice snooping in other people's private journals (making her rather less popular). Despite all this, she still can't make any sense of boys.

She's sensitive about her upbringing, especially as regards her father. Only a few close friends know that her father despises the wizarding world; if pressed, she usually tells people that her parents are divorced. Despite a generally cavalier attitude (including conspicuous boredom during Muggle Studies class), she fervently wishes she had been raised as as a witch; once in her second year she was teased about being a Muggle-born and cried in the bathroom the rest of the day, though now she is more likely to lash out verbally or physically against anyone who mocks her. Since Quidditch has made her more fit, she has gotten in trouble several times for fighting, though that is the only way she has ever lost house points.

Personal History: Meg was born in Aberystwyth, Wales, the youngest of four children. Her father, Arthur, is a professor of linguistics at the University of Aberystwyth, and her mother, Janet, is a homemaker and also runs a small side business making one-of-a-kind dresses for Britain’s well-dressed. Meg, her sister Branwyn, and her two brothers, David and Matholwch, all attended the same reasonably elite grade school, and Meg fully intended to follow her siblings into the upper grades until she was surprised by a visit from Professor Gabriel Lucas the summer she turned eleven. He explained the world of magic to her, and she was enthralled by his description, the idea of Hogwarts, and the knowledge that she could do magic—to the point where she developed a slight sort of “hero worship” crush on him, which persists mildly to this day (to the extent that she gets overly excited about interesting things he does or says in class and her friends tease her about it).

Her family, unfortunately, were not so enthralled. Her siblings weren’t told by Professor Lucas, but she immediately told her brother David (with whom she has always been close) and he was thrilled and jealous. Her mother was skeptical and suspicious, but was persuaded that Hogwarts was the best place for Meg and that they would take excellent care of her. Her father, however, was not happy at all about the situation. He didn’t have a problem with her being sent off to school; in fact, he was rather pleased about his studious youngest daughter being chosen for a special school. But he steadfastly refused to believe in magic—or rather, even when Professor Lucas demonstrated for him, he was horrified by it and hated the idea not only of his daughter learning it, but of anyone practicing it at all. Meg’s mother took her side in the ensuing screaming match, and Meg was, in the end, permitted to attend Hogwarts. However, there was a rift between her and her father ever afterward, and she was never as close to her mother again, either.

She had always been both athletic and studious, but she had never fit in with the other athletic students at her Muggle school (mostly because none of them were in the least studious), so she was very excited when she discovered Quidditch. For her first and second years she saved all of the money she made working at her mother’s shop, and when she went to Diagon Alley to buy books she proudly purchased her first broom. She didn’t get into the Quidditch team that year, despite frequent practice with school brooms (and she did have to relearn a little bit how to fly with her new broom, so different from the old, ratty school brooms), but soon after that she was accepted as a Chaser, and Quidditch has been one of her favorite activities ever since. Other than that, her time as a student has been fairly unremarkable; she’s gotten consistently good grades and has had her share of embarrassing crushes and fights with friends, but for the most part has been content to stay one of the typical nerdy Ravenclaws.

Classes: Her best classes are Charms and History of Magic. She also does well in Divination, but often has a hard time taking Professor Trelawney seriously, so she doesn’t do as well as she otherwise might. She also does reasonably well in Ancient Runes and Health Science. Muggle Studies is her worst class, because it bores her, so she doesn’t pay very much attention to either class or homework even when they are learning about things that she has no knowledge of from living as a Muggle.
